Japanese Name: Kaki (Persimmon)

The young leaves of the persimmon tree, harvested around June to July, can be enjoyed as tempura.
Additionally, the leaves can be picked, shade-dried for 2–3 days, then steamed and further dried for storage, making a flavorful tea.
Tsuyu Motomiya from Hatano (born in the Showa era) mentioned, "It seems to help lower blood pressure." Similarly, Reiko Hisamatsu noted, "Drinking the juice extracted from persimmon leaves is good for hypertension."
When using persimmon leaves, it is important to select native varieties, as they are considered to have higher medicinal properties. Choosing leaves from trees grown without pesticides ensures the best benefits.
